Privacy Policy

The Meredith Wilson Corporation Privacy Policy is a part of the Meredith Wilson Corporation “Meredith” Terms of Service and is included as such by reference.

Terms of Service

The purpose of this Meredith privacy policy is to inform you, as a welcome visitor to Meredith Web Sites, what kinds of information we may gather about you when you visit here, how we may use that information, whether we disclose it to anyone, and the choices you have regarding our use of, and your ability to correct, the information.

Please note that this policy applies only to Meredith, and not to other companies’ or organizations’ Web sites to which we link.

In general, our site automatically gathers certain usage information like the numbers and frequency of visitors to Meredith Web Sites and its areas, very much like television ratings that tell the networks how many people tuned in to a program.

We only use such data in the aggregate.  That is, we track the total visitors to each page, but we do not track if a particular individual visits a page.  This aggregate data helps us determine how much our customers use parts of the site, so we can improve our site to assure that it is as appealing as we can make it for as many of you as possible.

The general Meredith site DOES NOT use cookies at this time.  It is possible that this technology might be used in the future to tell us how and when pages in our site are visited, and by how many people.  If this technology is employed in the future, it will not be used to collect personally identifiable information, nor shall it be combined with other personally identifiable information to tell us who you are or any personal information about you.

The MeredithMart™ store WILL USE cookies IF you have them ENABLED on your computer as a convenience for shopping.  Depending upon whether your computer accepts cookies or not will change how your shopping cart works inside MeredithMart™.

If you DO have cookies enabled:

The shopping cart will remember for 12 hours what you put into it.  You can go anywhere within the Meredith site, go to another site, turn off your computer, and when you return to the MeredithMart™ store your selections will still be in the cart waiting for checkout, but only for 12 HOURS.  After that, the cart will be empty and you’ll need to select your Meredith merchandise again.

If you DON’T have cookies enabled:

The shopping cart will only remember what you just put into it.  If you leave the shopping area and then come back, your cart will be empty and you’ll have to pick things out again.  If you are buying just one item, then select it and proceed directly to checkout.  If you are buying MULTIPLE items, you MAY find that the cart gets emptied while you are still looking at other items.  This will not happen if you allow cookies, but it MIGHT if you don’t.

MeredithMart™ cookies DO NOT COLLECT ANY INFORMATION ABOUT YOU.  All they do is assign a temporary number to your computer so that the store system can keep track of which items each individual shopper has selected.  Think of it this way.  Our cookies are like the procedures that art auctions use.  When you arrive, they give you a numbered paddle that you hold up to bid on items.  At the MeredithMart™ store, when you arrive, we give you a unique number in the form of a cookie.  Every time you select something, we write down the number of your cookie, (the same way the art people write down your bidding paddle number.) We don’t know anything about you except that you are shopper number “12345” or whatever.  That is all the information contained in the cookie.

We recommend that you enable cookies when visiting MeredithMart™ as it will make your shopping easier and more convenient.  But the choice is up to you.

We do not at this time, but may in the future provide statistical “ratings” information, never information about you personally, to any Meredith partners about how our visitors collectively use Meredith Web Sites.  We do this so they too can understand how much people use their areas and our site in order for them to provide you with the best possible Web experience as well.

In the future, Meredith, its advertisers and ad servers may also use cookies, as well as small pieces of code called “web beacons” or “clear gifs,” to determine on an anonymous basis which advertisements and promotions users have seen and how users responded to them, but do not use these technologies to collect personally identifiable information unless you give us permission to do so.

Meredith does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or nonaffiliated companies except to provide products or services you have specifically requested and only when we have your permission.  For example, when you make a purchase, your shipping information must be given to the shipping company to allow delivery of your merchandise.  This information may be provided to trusted partners who work on behalf of or with Meredith under confidentiality agreements.

Neither Meredith or its marketing partners will contact you regarding offers, promotions, or new products unless you specifically REQUEST such services.  If you specifically request these services, these companies may use your personal information to help Meredith communicate with you about offers from Meredith and our marketing partners.  However, these companies do not have any independent right to share this information.

To minimize on-line credit card fraud, Meredith WILL CONTACT YOU following all on-line credit card or other electronic purchases to CONFIRM that you did indeed make a purchase at MeredithMart™.  You will receive both a confirmation e-mail which requires your reply and a TELEPHONE CALL from our customer service department to confirm the order.  This is done to minimize the risk of fraudulent internet sales and to help protect both you and Meredith.  We will not ship any products without satisfactory confirmation of the order.

We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims.  We believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of Meredith’s terms of use, or as otherwise required by law.

We transfer information about you if Meredith is acquired by or merged with another company.  In this event, Meredith will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We limit access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs.

We have physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect personal information about you.

Meredith believes that it is especially important to protect children’s privacy online.  The Meredith web sites are not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If we decide to change our privacy policy for Meredith, we will post those changes here so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information and whether we will disclose it to anyone.
